ChargePoint to Install 2500 Apartment Chargers
ChargePoint and OBE Power have announced a partnership to install 2,500 electric vehicle chargers in multifamily housing developments. The collaboration will utilize ChargePoint’s charging technology and OBE Power’s owned-and-operated infrastructure model, which finances, deploys, and operates the charging infrastructure.
The companies have aligned their multifamily development pipelines and expect to begin deploying charging infrastructure in the near term. This turnkey approach is designed to remove financial and operational barriers for landlords and property owners, making automotive news more relevant to their needs.
OBE Power will oversee the operation and maintenance of the charging infrastructure, including driver support, insurance, repairs, and ongoing maintenance. They will also manage energy cost reimbursement and carbon credit revenues as part of the service model.
The agreement expands an existing relationship between ChargePoint and OBE Power, which previously focused on EV charging installations in the hospitality sector. With the new partnership, they are now targeting the multifamily residential market.
