Fastest Cars at Goodwood Festival
The 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed featured a wide range of vehicles, including the Subaru Brataroo, Toyota GR GT, and Red Bull RB17. These cars stole the show in England, with their impressive performances and unique designs.
Subaru Brataroo
The Subaru Brataroo made its competitive debut at the festival, with Travis Pastrana piloting it to fourth overall in the Timed Shootout. The Brataroo is a modern interpretation of the classic Subaru BRAT, created for the latest Gymkhana film. It features a turbocharged 2.0-liter boxer four engine producing 670 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque.
Its advanced active aerodynamic system, including movable front louvers and an adjustable rear wing, made it one of the most technically sophisticated Gymkhana cars Subaru has ever built.
Toyota GR GT
The Toyota GR GT made its dynamic debut at the festival, marking the first time the public saw the company’s new halo supercar in action. The GR GT features a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged hybrid V-8 producing 641 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque.
Crowds packed the Toyota Gazoo Racing stand throughout the weekend to see the GR GT’s debut, which marked a significant milestone for Toyota, showcasing its most ambitious road car ever.
One notable aspect of the GR GT is its potential to become Toyota’s most significant performance car since the Lexus LFA. RUF Flat 8 Engine
RUF unveiled a new 4.8-liter flat-eight boxer engine producing 986 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque at the festival. The engine was displayed in a CTR3 Evo prototype and is expected to power a new mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive carbon-fiber sports car in the next couple of years.
CEO Estonia Ruf stated that the family-owned company wants to differentiate itself from automakers shifting toward electric and hybrid powertrains. The new flat-eight engine is a significant step in this direction, offering a unique and powerful option for car enthusiasts.
Praga Bohema
From riding shotgun up the hill in a Praga Bohemia, to catching up with Travis Pastrana before his ride up on the Subaru Brataroo, we had a blast in the blast furnace of petrol-fueled madness that was the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Red Bull RB17
The Red Bull RB17 made its long-awaited dynamic public debut at the festival, with former Formula 1 driver Yuki Tsunoda piloting the track-only hypercar up the famous hillclimb. The RB17 features a naturally aspirated 4.5-liter V-10 paired with a hybrid system producing more than 1,200 hp.
The RB17’s performance was one of the headlines of the festival, giving spectators their first opportunity to see and hear one of the most ambitious hypercars ever created. With a price tag of around $6.8 million and limited to just 50 examples worldwide, the RB17 is a rare and exclusive vehicle.
