Lexus Unveils Redesigned 2027 NX With New Hybrid Powertrains

Lexus has unveiled the 2027 NX, which boasts a revamped exterior design, a completely redesigned cabin, and significant structural enhancements, including the introduction of the brand’s sixth-generation hybrid powertrains.
Redesigned Exterior and Interior
The new exterior design of the 2027 Lexus NX features a frameless spindle grille, similar to the one found on the larger RX model, paired with redesigned LED headlights that have a sharper light signature. The rear of the vehicle has also been updated, with a full-width LED light bar that now features updated L-motif internal graphics and an illuminated central logo. The F Sport model has been carried over, with new 20-inch alloy wheels, red-painted brake calipers, piano-black exterior trim, and subtle aero extensions.
Inside the vehicle, the dashboard layout has been completely overhauled, with design cues borrowed from the ES sedan and the electric TZ SUV. A 14.0-inch central touchscreen is now positioned atop a revised center panel, alongside a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The climate and camera functions have been relocated to new capacitive touch zones, which are situated above revised air vents and a redesigned center console.
The driver touchpoints have also been updated, with the steering wheel diameter reduced by approximately 0.4 inches, and a thicker rim grip, expanded telescopic adjustment range, and tactile physical buttons added. Additionally, the front seat mounting points have been lowered, which brings the driver’s hip point closer to the vehicle’s center of gravity.
To improve the ride refinement and handling of the 2027 Lexus NX, the engineering team has made several modifications to the chassis. The front suspension towers are now integrated directly into the front pillar structure, resulting in a 30 percent increase in tower rigidity. The overall floor pan rigidity has also been increased by 25 percent, which helps to mitigate road vibrations, while sound-absorbing materials have been added to the center pillars, rear doors, and rear bumper to reduce interior road and engine noise by an estimated 20 percent.
The self-charging NX 350h model now features a lighter and more compact lithium-ion battery setup, paired with a 2.5-liter engine, which produces 199 horsepower in European specifications and 240 horsepower in the US market. The plug-in hybrid NX 450h+ model has seen its battery capacity increase from 18.1 kWh to 23.0 kWh, resulting in a combined system output of up to 322 horsepower for North American models, and an increased European WLTP electric-only driving range of 62 miles. The US EPA range estimates have also been increased to an estimated 40 miles on a full charge, and the updated PHEV now comes with standard DC fast-charging capability.
Pricing and Launch Details
Sales of the updated 2027 Lexus NX are set to begin in Europe in early spring 2027, with the North American launch timing and pricing expected to be announced shortly. For reference, the outgoing 2026 Lexus NX starts at $46,570 for the base NX 350h model and $59,505 for the flagship NX 450h+ PHEV model, including destination fees. It is expected that the pricing across the lineup will see a slight increase when the updated model arrives in showrooms.
