Fang Cheng Bao, a BYD spinoff, introduced the Formula X, an all‑electric roadster that builds on the earlier Super 9 concept. Its carbon‑fiber body, scissor doors and active rear spoiler suggest a focus on aerodynamics, though the powertrain details were not disclosed. The car’s looks imply a performance level that matches its aggressive styling.
From the same umbrella, the Denza Z promises up to 1,000 horsepower and sub‑2.0‑second 0‑60 mph acceleration, positioning it as a track‑ready contender. The roadster, available with a soft‑top or hardtop, stems from a concept styled by former Audi design chief Wolfgang Egger, indicating a blend of European influence with Chinese ambition.
Smart’s #6 sedan, styled by Mercedes‑Benz, marks a departure from the brand’s typical micro‑car image. The plug‑in hybrid can sprint to 60 mph in the mid‑six‑second range and features unusually large brake calipers for a vehicle in its class.
Denza’s roadster, the Z, and the Formula X both illustrate a trend of Chinese brands creating high‑performance electric sports cars that rival established European models.
